Black Berry was the UK’s number one stylish phone vendor in 2010, explore in Motion claims. With a market share of 28.2 per cent, the handset just outsold all other major manufacturer, and sold over half a million devices sold during December 2010.
In that particular month, research from GfK indicates that it captured a record high of 36 per cent distribute of the stylish phone market, as well as being the top pre-pay gadget in December with 51.1 per cent market share.
The data represents sales to customers and excludes enterprise and part of small and average business sales.
Stephen Bates, the UK managing Director for Research in Motion said that the handset had moved “from the board room to the sitting room”. He said that new customers were often younger users who were drawn to Blackberry by the popular Blackberry Messenger (BBM) tool, as well as by improved web and email use.
Mr. Bates also said that Blackberry’s App Store was growing and now included 16,000 apps, all of which were deeply integrated with the platform. Typical users, however, only used four or five key apps.
